Fine Art
DAO Studios, Inc. is
the home for David Orr, whose paintings are hanging in homes
from New York to Florida to California and across his
home state of Indiana.
In my artwork, I
explore what it means to be human. How we see, who
we are, and what we aspire to be. I believe that art
is about
transformation, transcendence and expressing the
human spirit. In my opinion paintings must have
vitality, a life force, they should move and live
and breathe. I also believe that great art comes
through great craftsmanship. My canvases are
constructed with linen, hide glue, and oil primer in
the traditional method, and I only use Old Holland
Classic oil paints, the same company that supplied
Rembrandt and Van Gogh. I have learned some of my
greatest lessons by copying the works of Cezanne,
Matisse, Modigliani, Picasso, Rembrandt, Titian, and
Rodin. I believe that for an artist to truly be in
the moment, one must be cognizant of the past and
looking to the future in order to see the patterns,
the secrets, and the possibilities.
